Your Take

What does the First Amendment mean to you, and how would you feel if you lost your First Amendment rights?

  sophomore Bethany Ferril
"It gives us the right to speech, religion, redress of grievances, assembly, and press. It's my freedom of expression. (Without the First Amendment), I'd feel like I'd lost part of who I am."
  junior Jeff Miller
"It means you can express yourself however you want without being persecuted. I would think it was ridiculous (to lose my First Amendment rights) because people are entitled to their own opinions."

The First Amendment

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
