A few enthusiasts started to play chess after school in math teacher Mike Spock’s classroom on Thursdays. As the numbers grew, math teacher Reggie McLaurine and Mr. Spock decided to make the meetings an official club. The club now averages 20 people or more every week, according to Mr. McLaurine.
“Do you consider yourself attractive? Smart? Even funny? If the answer to all of the previous questions is yes or no; then chess club is for you,” Mr. McLaurine said.
They encourage everyone to come out, play some chess and have some fun. Chess club meets every Thursday after school in room 245 until 4:30 p.m.
