With music blaring from the speakers and over 130 people coming in and out of his basement, senior John Pence's first full scale dance party last Saturday proved successful. The event was organized by Pence and senior Austin Chen, who was the main DJ for the party.
"In years past, John tried to get dance parties but they didn't get organized. This time more people were involved and I had the right stuff (to DJ)," Chen said.
The two seniors organized the party in about a week and a half. Chen created a Facebook group, and the word was spread mainly through the Internet and texting. Pence's older sister and grandma chaperoned the event.
"(Senior) Jerry Patron and I had been wanting do have a dance party for a long time, but it hadn't worked out until now," Pence said. "I would say it was pretty successful. The only downfall was that I had to buy all the food, but it was worth it."
Chen said he and Pence were both interested in organizing another party in the near future.
