Stock Market Game team leads State
By Karen Pruitt (11/02/07)

When other schools think of Columbus North they usually think of highly ranked athletics, but not this time. Seniors Tyler Duncan, Daylan Mueller, Anuj Patel and Hayden Shuffett have the number one ranked Stock Market Game team in the state.

For the past few weeks senior economics classes have participated in The Stock Market Game. The object of this game is buying and selling real stocks, but it is not done with real money. Econ teachers Laurie Pfaffenberger and Steve Perry gave their students $100,000 to start, and students then researched the stocks, found one they liked, invested in it and hopefully made more money.

“I think this game is important for my future because I plan to have stocks someday,” senior Ethan Ott said, “and I need to know how to manage them.”
