9th annual Turning Point Dance Marathon tomorrow

Twelve hours of continuous dancing, games, free food, live bands and quality time with friends: $35. Knowing the donation you made at the door will help to raise awareness about domestic violence: priceless. Turning Point Domestic Violence Services is sponsoring the ninth annual Dance Marathon this Saturday at Central Middle School. Students from North, East and Hauser High Schools took part in a committee to help organize the fundraising event.

“This is my first year on the committee, and I am a co-chair of the music and entertainment committee,” senior Austin Chen said. “It’s a lot more fun (this year) because I’m more involved and know what’s going to happen.”

Chen encouraged his peers to take part in the event.

“It (Dance Marathon) is different than other dances because it’s really casual, there’s better music and it’s for a good cause,” Chen said.

Dance Marathon lasts from 6 p.m. Saturday evening until 6 a.m. the following morning. The registration fee is a minimum of $35; anyone who raises at least $50 receives a prize. Online registration ended yesterday, but you can still go to the website (https://www.regonline.com/builder/site/default.aspx?EventID=172176), fill out the forms and register at the door. The committee hopes to raise $100,000.
